CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2006 AIUSA GINETTA SAGAN FUND AWARD

You may be in a position to throw a name or two into the mix, so I'm posting this from Cheryl Mendez: Amnesty International is seeking nominations for the 2006 Annual Award for the Human Rights of Women and Children, an award that recognizes and assists "women who are working to protect the liberty and lives of women and children in areas where human rights violations are widespread."

fyi: Deadline is Nov. 15 to vie for Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography

from the NPPA website: The deadline to apply for the first of two rounds of Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography for 2006 is November 15, 2005, in just two weeks. Two winning grants will be picked from the applications and announced in February 2006. Each grant winner will receive $20,000 USD and project execution support from picture editors and staff at Getty Images.

Reporters Attacked in French Riots

This just in from Reporters Without Borders. Journalists covering the suburban riots have been increasingly attacked. Here is a link to a Reuters slideshow of the increasing violence.
RWB also noted this attack on a journalist in Mexico City by Mexican Police.
